How many times as Mom have you heard people tell you “You have to sleep when they sleep!”. Well having a three month old I hear this a lot but I also have a 4 year old and 7 year old who are very active in dance, cheerleading, and gymnastics so often when the baby sleeps I am busy running them from place to place or getting them ready to go to their activities, or cleaning house, or the million other activities a Mom has to do.
I would love to sleep when she sleeps but it just isn’t possible most of the time and I wonder how these Moms who tell me this are able to sleep when their kids sleep? I think it works out ok if you only have one, or maybe a newborn and a toddler but it’s just not working out for me this time.
I know that a lot of times not getting enough sleep is my fault because I will stay up late watching tv when I should be sleeping before the baby wakes up but to me this is my time to unwind and relax from the day. It is my Mommy-time and I don’t want to give that up just to sleep :). I just hope that maybe we can get on some type of schedule that allows me to get more sleep soon.
